Sugar. There’s no doubt Australia loves it. It’s estimated we eat more than 50 kilos of it per person every year. But have you ever thought about where it comes from or exactly how many processes are taken to produce this pantry staple? This DVD focuses on the many steps of sugar cane production including land preparation, planting, harvesting, milling and exporting in Ingham which is located in the Hinchinbrook Shire in tropical North Queensland.
The 25 minute DVD is part of the tourism viewings at Ingham’s Tyto Wetlands Information Centre It is envisaged the DVD will also be used as an educational and promotional tool for the sugar industry, to schools, tertiary institutions and government bodies.
The DVD showcases the latest techniques, “up to date” technology and equipment that is being utilised within the sugar industry, as well as highlighting the career and employment opportunities available.
