Taylors Beach is 24 km east of Ingham.
Ingham is 110 kms north of Townsville and 240 kms south of Cairns along the Bruce Highway and is the commercial centre of the Hinchinbrook Shire.
About Taylors Beach:
Taylors beach is the central beach within the Hinchinbrook Shire, located between Forrest Beach and Lucinda. With the islands and fringing reefs so close, Taylors beach is a popular fishing destination for many. Taylors Beach has its own stinger net open for protection during the summer months and a Caravan park that accommodates a Mini Mart and Service station.
Established many years ago as a fisherman’s paradise, it provides the perfect place to relax and unwind or explore the islands of Hinchinbrook, Pelorus, the famous Orpheus Island and its accessible Yanks Jetty which is ideal for snorkelling, and Palm Island group.
It has an all-weather boat ramp, accessed from the inlet, foreshore picnic areas, recreational parklands and children’s playgrounds.

Orpheus Island National Park features sheltered bays with spectacular fringing reefs. Composed of granite and volcanic rocks, Orpheus Island belongs to the chain of continental islands called the Palm Group, located 20km off the Queensland coast. Orpheus Island can be reached by boat. There is no public ferry, but special charters can be arranged. The closest boat ramp is at Taylor’s Beach for private boat access. Camping is allowed near Yank’s Jetty, South Beach and Little Pioneer Bay where basic facilities are provided. Freshwater is not available.

Pelorus Island is smaller than Orpheus and is situated just north of the island. Pelorus is surrounded by spectacular fringing reefs which can be accessed by snorkeling right off the beach. Camping is permitted on Pelorus Island, however there are no camping facilities on the island and no freshwater. You are required to take all camping materials with you.
