TYTO WETLANDS & PRECINCT Location: TYTO Wetlands and Precinct is500 metres south from the township of Ingham - North Queensland Australia and just off the Bruce Highway.
Ingham is 110 kms north of Townsville and 240 kms south of Cairns along the Bruce Highway and is the commercial centre of the Hinchinbrook Shire. About the TYTO Wetlands: TYTO Wetlands is a unique 120 hectare rehabilitated wetland site that is home to over 230 species of birds and numerous tropical plant species in addition to the beautiful Agile Wallaby. The TYTO Wetlands is one of Australia’s largest urban wetland rehabilitation projects. The wetlands have been revegetated and repaired to attract a variety of birdlife. It is truly a bird watchers paradise.
TYTO Wetlands is a carefully preserved natural environment that integrates lagoons, walking tracks and native flora.

●Birdwatching Among the 230 species of birds at the TYTO Wetlands the top 3 birds are The Eastern Grass Owl (tyto capensis), Crimson Finch and White-browed Crake.
TYTO Information and Wetlands Centre: (Information Centre) The TYTO Wetlands Interpretive Centre, located 500m South of Ingham on the Bruce Highway, is your first stop for information about things to see and do, and where to stay, while in beautiful Hinchinbrook. The award winning, accredited visitor information centre, located on the southern approach to Ingham, houses innovative displays showcasing the spectacular natural values of the nearby TYTO Wetlands and Hinchinbrook Shire attractions.
The centre will also introduce you to all the birds at the wetlands as well as how you can become a ‘true’ birdwatcher! Many of the displays are very interactive which are proving very popular with little (and not so little) travellers.
Directly behind the interpretive centre is an elevated walkway over man made lagoons leading to the TYTO Precinct. This precinct is comprised of a Observation Tower, Restaurant, Conference Centre, Library and Art Gallery. All within easy walking distance from the main street of Ingham.

●Restaurant Tiddaliks - Cafe / Bar/ Cater with lovely views across the lagoons.
●Conference Centre The Conference Centre is available for hire catering for a range of events, from small meetings to conferences.
●The Hinchinbrook Library The Hinchinbrook Library is a multi purpose facility which houses a recording studio, computer training room and full computer access with free wi-fi available.
The Library contains a comprehensive local history collection including the Kennedy regiment library.
●The TYTO Regional Art Gallery The TYTO Regional Art Gallery boasts a modern exhibition area named after the world renowned artist, Ingham born John Coburn.
A variety of exhibitions are placed in the Gallery throughout the year.
