Hinchinbrook Chamber calls for nominations
The Hinchinbrook Chamber of Commerce, Industry & Tourism is searching for fresh, new faces to lead the respected organisation into a vibrant and prosperous future.
While the process of nominating for Chamber’s Management Committee is no different to previous years, it has been revealed that some long-standing committee members will not be running for re-election at the upcoming AGM, leaving key positions vacant.
Outgoing Chamber President Rachael Coco said that volunteering for the chamber was a “rewarding” endeavour that provided valuable connections and diverse experiences to the committee members.
“The strategic direction of chamber is determined by its membership with the guidance and input of the committee, so new committee members will be able to bring fresh ideas and views to the table that add value and keep the organisation relevant into the future” said Ms Coco.
“The existing committee has worked hard to develop and deliver meaningful projects and solidify the chamber’s position as a respected representative body and the proof is in the numbers, our membership has grown significantly in the last two years and our financial position remains strong” she said.
“From an operational standpoint, Treasurer Tracey Castles has improved our reporting and streamlined our bookkeeping, our committee members and employee have grown in experience and knowledge and chamber now runs like a well-oiled machine.”
“It’s really the perfect time for anyone who has ever thought about joining the committee to put their hand up.”
Ms Coco said that the existing committee deserved recognition and praise for their volunteer contributions and strength as a team.
“The existing committee is made up of people from diverse backgrounds, industries and experience levels, but they work together as though they’ve been a team for decades” she said.
“I have nothing but respect for Peter, Madeleine, Tracey, Kieran, Adam, Monique and Ryan and have enjoyed working with each and every one of them” she said.
“It will be sad to see a couple of committee members move on next year, but we’re thankful for their contributions and grateful to those who are committed to serving another term.”
Although the majority of the committee intends to return next year, Ms Coco stressed that there is nothing to stop newcomers from contesting any position whatsoever, so long as their membership is up to date.
“Just because an existing committee member intends to run again doesn’t mean that others can’t throw their hats into the ring, we haven’t had an election for a few years but it’s always exciting when we do!” she said.
Nominations for President, Vice-President, Treasurer, Secretary and General Committee Member close November 5, 2021 and must be returned by email to admin@hinchinbrookchamber.com.au or in person to the chamber office at 32 Herbert Street Ingham.
The new Management Committee will be elected or appointed during Chamber’s AGM at 6pm on Thursday, November 25, 2021 at the Lees Hotel.
The AGM is open to members and non-members and will include an inspirational discussion panel made up of existing and emerging entrepreneurs.
Bookings are essential and more information can be found on Chamber’s Website or Facebook page.
